Joshua Siow
Mr. Joshua Siow is responsible for directing all audit, risk and consultancy services. He has many years of audit and management experience in operations, business systems, information technology, finance and accounting, working with numerous companies around the globe. Joshua has assisted exchanges, depositories and listed firms to: establish their internal audit function; develop their enterprise risk management framework; assess their risk/control environments; strengthen their systems of internal controls; and evaluate their internal audit performance. Joshua is a Certified Internal Auditor, Chartered Accountant, Certified Risk Management Professional and Certified Accountant, with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Warwick. He is a member of The Singapore Institute of Directors and has successfully completed the International Directorship Programme with INSEAD Business School.
Alvin Tan
Mr. Alvin Tan is responsible for audit, corporate governance and risk assessment engagements by the firm. He has many years of experience developing and executing internal audit plans for SGX-listed companies to strengthen their internal controls and corporate governance practices. Alvin also has experiences in the business and capital markets areas through his previous role in the Singapore Exchange, including in areas such as strategic planning, policy development, equities product and market development, IT planning and regulatory compliance. Alvin has an honours degree in the Bachelor of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Warwick. Alvin is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) Professional with The Institute of Internal Auditors. Alvin is also a Certified Sustainability Reporting Specialist with the Institute of Certified Sustainability Practitioners.
Hon. David Butcher
As Senior Advisor, Mr. Butcher provides strategic guidance and experience as a sounding board, to assist Virtus Assure in fulfilling its mission in assisting our ciients. The firm’s directors and management take seriously their commitment to operationalise the experience of the Senior Advisor. David was trained in economics, worked as an economist and union field officer, and is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC). Elected to the New Zealand (NZ) Parliament in 1987 he served for 12 years and for 6 years was a minister in NZ’s Government. He was responsible for all aspects of Agriculture, Lands and Forests, subsequently for energy Trade and Industry, Commerce and briefly for Finance. Democratically retired from politics in 1990, he has made a career in public sector reform, including commercialisation, corporatisation and privatisation, applying in African, Asian and Middle Eastern Countries the lessons of a reforming government. These reforms are increasingly being applied to the private sector, where governance reform is often appropriate.
